New Book Informs Kids And Adults The 'truth About Holidays' (ContentDesk) June 28, 2005 -- Author Brenda Sanderson Shaw offers many fun facts for young and old behind some of our dearest and traditions. Where did Valentine's Day come from? How did Halloween become a tradition? When did Santa Claus first come along? These are questions most kids have asked aloud--including adults--when it comes to understanding our annual and traditions. However, thanks to Brenda Sanderson Shaw, they can finally find the answers behind these questions in her informative book, "Telling Kids the Truth About Holidays: Is Santa Real?"In this book, Shaw offers many fun facts that teach kids--both young and old--how our favorite and traditions came about, from Halloween to Valentine's Day to Christmas and more. Shaw also mentions the legendary individuals behind these special occasions, such as St. Valentine and Chris Cringle.Aside from providing intriguing facts, the book also offers many other fun aspects as well--how to make "wish presents" without spending so much as a dime, special recipes that both children and adults will enjoy, and unique gift ideas for nearly every holiday.Shaw, who is a grandmother of four, came up with the idea to write the book after talking with her five-year-old grandson about the holidays. And, now, she hopes her book will not only teach kids the truth behind our beloved holidays, but teach adults as well--because, as she explains, "You can never be too young or too old to benefit from learning."Most importantly, Shaw hopes both kids and adults will appreciate the true spirit of the from her book. "I am hoping my readers will learn to enjoy each holiday in it's entirety without all the commercialism," adds Shaw. "Everything is so commercialized today to the point where it has taken all the fun out. I would like to see fun put back into our lives so we can be free to really enjoy traditions and the way they were intended."For more information about "Telling Kids the Truth About Holidays" and Brenda Sanderson Shaw, please visit www.outskirtspress.com/tellingkidsthetruthaboutholidaysISBN:
